All research projects processing personal data must report the project to Sikt, the Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research (former NSD), which provides data protection services to the University of Oslo.
Sikt supports UiO researchers to find solutions that fit your project and ensure that the planned processing is in accordance with data protection legislation.
This course will introduce you to and help you navigate the Notification Form for personal data (sikt.no), and provides ample room for questions and guidance on the different aspects to be addressed in the form.
The course will be held online and in English.
Facilitator: Gry Henriksen, senior adviser, Data Protection Services, Sikt
Introductory course to GDPR
We highly recommend that you complete the UiO's GDPR e-learning course (SV) prior to the Sikt course.
The digital introductory course in personal data in research provides basic knowledge about data protection, information security and the UiO's routines in this area. The course is mandatory for academic staff at the Faculty of Social Sciences and takes 2-3 hours to complete. We highly recommend that employees complete the GDPR course before taking Sikt's course.
PhD candidates employed at external institutions are recommended to take the open version of the GPDR course. Keep in mind that not everything related to UiO routines will apply to you (module 3), depending on whether or not the UiO is a data controller ("behandlingsansvarlig") in your PhD project.
- Open GDPR e-learning course (social science research)
- Åpent e-læringskurs i personvern (samfunnsforskning)

The course is open to all PhD candidates and other researchers who are not familiar with Sikt's services including the notification form.
