The subfield

Through research methods training, students learn how research-based knowledge about political phenomena is produced. Social science methods provide us with guidelines for how to design a scientific study and systematically collect and analyze data. Training in research methods is a key part of a bachelor's and master's degree in political science.

Teaching

The members of this group teach research methods in the political science degree programmes at the department at the bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD levels. They are responsible for the compulsory methods courses and offer specialized elective methods courses at the advanced level. Group members also serve as co-supervisors for specific methodological purposes.

Research

The subfield group is engaged in studies of pedagogical tools in method teaching and the development of new methodological improvements.

The group's members are part of the various thematic research groups at the department. The research group PODS provides a venue for organizing workshops and seminars in all aspects of political data science.
