Organization

TIK encompasses two interdisciplinary research groups, one within Innovation and the other within Science and Technology Studies (STS). Together, these two groups constitute TIK's research profile and share joint responsibility for the PhD programme at the center, as well as the teaching and supervision of our master students.

The TIK Centre was established by Det akademiske kollegium as an independent unit under the Faculty of Social Sciences in 1999. This occurred through the merging of the former Centre for Technology and Human Values (TMV), the interdisciplinary master's programme Society, Science and Technology in Europe (ESST), and Prosjektforum. Prosjektforum has since been separated from the centre.
