About the group
Oslo Political Theory (OPT) is a research group that works within political theory. A large part of the group’s research is in normative political theory, and consequently seeks to answer some of the normative questions to which politics give rise. However, the group’s research is not limited to the normative, and the group is also interested in conceptual, epistemological, and ontological questions. The research group has a broad area of interest, but currently focuses on the following themes:
- Democracy and institutional legitimacy
- Distributive justice
- Social freedom
The research group is led by Jonathan William Kuyper.

The group organises a regular research seminar.
