The Department of Social Anthropology has since its creation in 1964 evolved to one of Europe's leading institutions for anthropology. We are the largest community for anthropological research in Norway, and our researchers possess extensive international networks.

About the programme

As a PhD candidate at the Department of Social Anthropology at the University of Oslo you will be part of a highly active research community active in shaping the future of the field. Several of the Department's researchers use the unique approach to societal study found in anthropology in order to create new understanding of challenges with respect to climate, technology, conflicts, and culture.
