Status
Completed

This project seeks to answer how scientific knowledge is to be presented in order to be useful for those making political decisions.

About the project

The aim of this project is to improve the policy instrument 'dissemination of scientific knowledge' in order to achieve better use of climate research in Norwegian climate policy: How should scientific knowledge be designed and disseminated in order to be as useful as possible to decision-makers (politicians and bureaucrats)?

Background

Climate policy is a field where the science-policy relationship is in a critical state. Recent mistakes within the field of climate policy has been uncovered as a double crisis: the research syntheses presented in connection with climate policy are not translated and transformed into policy and practice and they are not fully accepted as sound science.

Sub-projects

  1. Dissemination of scientific knowledge as a policy instrument - a theoretical contribution
  2. The IPCC making of research syntheses
  3. The Norwegian Rainforest Initiative - politics trumps science?
  4. Assessing Klimakur - the Norwegian climate policy assessment
  5. Disseminating knowledge at the local scale
  6. Improving dissemination strategies in the light of a theoretical framework
