Academic interests

My research explores the role that digital technologies such as artificial intelligence are playing in transforming agri-food systems. My work cuts across innovation studies, science and technology studies, and sustainability transitions. I am particularly interested in using novel multi-system interaction theories to explore the processes of digital transformation, as well as their political and ethical implications.

Courses taught

I regularly contribute to teaching courses and running seminars in the TIK and ESST Master's programmes.

Background

Prior to starting my PhD, I spent nine years working in science, technology and innovation-related positions in Canada and the United Kingdom. Most recently, I spent four years as a researcher in the data science unit of the UK-based innovation foundation, Nesta, where I led a team responsible for developing and deploying new approaches to responsible and inclusive innovation. I hold an MSc in Public Health Nutrition from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a BSc in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Alberta.
