The dissertation examines how carbon capture technology develops and spreads across different sectors in Norway. Finstad’s research shows how expansion into sectors such as waste incineration and cement production brings in new actors and requires changes in technology, collaboration, contracts and policy instruments.
The trial lecture addressed the changing discourse and development of carbon capture and storage (CCS) in the global climate transition.
The adjudication committee consisted of Professor Björn Sandén (Chalmers University of Technology), Professor Heleen de Coninck (Eindhoven University of Technology) and Associate Professor Bård Lahn (University of Oslo). Professor Kristin Asdal chaired the defence.
Finstad’s supervisors were Associate Professor Allan Dahl Andersen (University of Copenhagen and University of Oslo) and Professor Taran Thune (University of Oslo).
The defence took place in Gamle Festsal, University of Oslo.
