Emerging technologies: The case of carbon capture and storage – new paper out now

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) requires more than the development and diffusion of individual technologies. A new paper examines how multiple systems need to evolve together for CCS to develop and scale.

The paper, written by Tuukka Mäkitie, Allan D. Andersen and TIK researcher Caroline Veldhuizen, explores how interdependencies between technological, institutional and organizational systems shape the development of CCS. Drawing on the Norwegian Mongstad and Longship projects, the authors identify key processes through which actors coordinate these interdependencies and support the development of emerging technologies.
