On occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Norwegian social scientist, Eilert Lund Sundt, the University of Oslo is hosting a reading seminar in collaboration with Anno Museum and The Open Air Museum (Norsk Folkemuseum). The theme of the first reading is 'The People' and takes its point of departure in Eilert Sundt's descriptions of the living conditions of the Norwegian people.
Kristin Asdal will be presenting her reading of Sundt's work, comparing Sundt's way of conceptualizing 'The People' to the critical investigation of the fishermen that took place during the heated controversy on Norwegian whaling in the late 19th century.
