Academic interests
I am a PhD candidate at SINTEF Digital, affiliated with the TIK Centre for Technology, Innovation and Culture at the University of Oslo. My research interests include sustainability transitions, environmental governance and the social and political dimensions of technological change.
As part of the CaptureY project, my PhD examines the feasibility of carbon capture and storage (CCS) in waste-to-energy systems in Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom. I focus on policy and regulatory frameworks, interactions across the waste, energy and CCS sectors, and how CCS is justified, legitimised or contested. I am particularly interested in how these developments relate to broader sustainability goals, including emissions reduction, waste prevention and a circular economy, as well as the governance and justice questions they raise.
Background
Before starting my PhD, I worked at the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA), where my research focused on plastic pollution, waste management and environmental governance. This included international research collaborations in India and Southeast Asia, with particular interests in informal recycling, just transitions and the relationship between local waste management practices and international policy. I also contributed to the coordination of the Scientists’ Coalition for an Effective Plastics Treaty, supporting scientific input into the global plastics treaty negotiations.
I hold an MSc in Sustainable Development from the University of Exeter and a BSc in International Relations from the University of Plymouth.
