Academic interests
As a geographer I was trained to study the material foundations of societies, which, in turn, has fostered my interest in the intersection of technology, politics, economics, and culture. In Science and Technology Studies (STS) I found theories and methodologies I could utilise to study this intersection and how knowledge is produced.
Studying official documents like Official Norwegian Reports (NOU) and Government Strategies, as well as speeches in the Parliament from the 1970s up until the present, I seek to investigate how the digital have developed as an object of governance in Norwegian governance. The overall goal is to better understand the historical relation between technological development, bureaucratic structures and political goals in a Norwegian context. A mixed method approach will be applied by using qualitative reading of document in combination witht quantitative text analysis to track discourses over time.
Background
I hold a bachelor in geography from NTNU and a master degree in Environment and Conflict Analysis (Human Security) from Aarhus University. Before joining TIK I worked with science communication for GRID-Arendal, where I covered topics related to climate and environment in polar and high mountain regions.
