Regenerative agriculture triggers curiosity and controversy, and it has been described as a paradigm shift within agriculture by scholars and practitioners alike. Rather than using paradigm shift metaphorically to signify a large change, we employ it analytically. Using Thomas Kuhn’s (1964) cycle of scientific revolutions we explore what part of the agronomic paradigm, and to what extent, is challenged by farmers who experiment with regenerative forms of agriculture. We also discuss the implications these agricultural developments have for the relationships farmers have to experts and expert knowledge within agronomy. This paper gives new and in-depth insight knowledge controversies within regenerative agriculture in Norway, and how farmers navigate this emerging field.
This will be a hybrid seminar with in-person attendance at SAI, and digitally on Zoom. Zoom-link
