LandUse is a group of researchers and students who come together to discuss anthropological perspectives on land-use in the Nordics. We work towards building critical anthropological theory and tools for understanding pressing issues and challenges in agriculture, alternative modes of food production, and rural livelihoods. Our work spans contested Nordic landscapes, the legacy of agricultural policy and practice, and contemporary and alternative visions of sustainable uses of land in the Nordics, hence the title LandUse.

Nordic Laboratory (NorLab) is an anthropological forum for students and researchers working in the Nordics. We seek to strengthen Nordic ethnography and to build networks among students and scholars who share an interest in this region. Nordic Laboratory was established at SAI in 2019. Since then, we have launched seminar series, workshops and panel discussions. We have also initiated research proposals and coedited publications. Our aim is to inspire dialogue and collaborations across different research institutions, and between anthropologists within and outside of academia.

Seminars take place at the Department of Social Anthropology, University of Oslo, but LandUse has members from different institutions, and all seminars are hybrid.
