Faglige interesser

Jeg er en del av den kognitive og nevrovitenskapelige avdelingen ved PSI, og er ansatt som forsker ved Senteret for livsløpsendringer i hjerne og kognisjon. Vi studerer hvordan hjernens strukturer og aktivering forandres over livsløpet, ved bruk av magnetisk resonans avbildning (MR).

Mitt nylig avsluttede doktorgradsprosjekt omhandlet beslutningstaking hos voksne med ADHD og hvordan medisinering med stimulanter påvirket beslutninger i denne gruppen mennesker. Det er især beslutninger om gevinst og tap som var i fokus. Dette ble utforsket ved se på hvordan voksne med ADHD veiet slike beslutninger vha funksjonell MR (fMRI), slik for et pekepinn på hvorvidt beslutningene aktiverte andre deler av hjernen hos de med ADHD enn kontrollene, og hvorvidt medisineringen normaliserte aktivering i hjernen. Ettersom både beslutningstaking og ADHD er tema som er knyttet til nevrotransmittorene dopamin, noradrenalin og serotonin, er jeg også interessert i hvordan disse nevrotransmittorene påvirker både hjernen og adferd.

Doktorgradsprosjektet var en del av en større gruppe som forsker på ADHD ( se panelet til høyre), og vi samarbeidet med Utredningspoliklinikken for ADHD i Tønsberg, som er en del av Vestre Viken Helseforetak.
