Equality, diversity and inclusion

The Department of Psychology must work actively for gender equality, ensure equal opportunities and rights, and prevent discrimination.

Action plan for equality, diversity and inclusion at the Department of Psychology

For the University of Oslo, equality and diversity revolve around justice, democracy, representation and quality. Employees and students must have equal opportunities to participate in and influence the university community. Diversity can refer to a number of factors such as gender, ethnicity, functional ability, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic background, age, religion and different academic perspectives.

The Department of Psychology must recruit students and staff who reflect the diversity in society. Discrimination or harassment due to, for example, gender, age, functional ability, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation is not accepted.

Diversity, equality, gender balance and inclusion are a management responsibility and must be put on the agenda at the institute. Managerial responsibility includes, among other things, responsibility for ensuring that equality and diversity perspectives are followed up in the recruitment processes, HR, working environment and organizational development.

The action plan for the Department of Psychology builds on UiO's equality policy, as well as The Faculty of Social Science's Action Plan for Gender Equality 2021-2023 (pdf) The action plan for the Department of Psychology has concrete measures that will make it easier to handle evaluations in relation to equality and diversity for various participants in the recruitment process. Measures have been made for the period which can also help to increase diversity within studies, and which can make the work on career development for academic staff more clear.
