Faglige interesser

Staffan Kumlin forsker på politisk atferd, holdninger og demokrati i europeiske velferdsstater. Hans seneste bok er Election Campaigns and Welfare State Change: Democratic Linkage and Leadership Under Pressure (Oxford UP, 2022). Han har også skrevet The Personal and the Political: How Personal Welfare State Experiences Affect Political Trust and Ideology (Palgrave-Macmillan 2004) og er redaktør for How Welfare States Shape the Democratic Public: Policy Feedback, Participation, Voting, and Attitudes (Edward Elgar Publishing 2014). Han har publisert i vitenskapelige tidskrifter som British Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, European Journal of Political Research, Journal of European Public Policy og European Sociological Review. Han har skrevet bokkapittel i The Oxford Handbook of Political Behavior samt The Oxford Handbook of the Welfare State. Han er co-designer for "velferdsmodulen” i European Social Survey 2016 og medforfatter av læreboken Det politiska spelet. Medborgare, medier och politiker i den representative demokratin (Studentlitteratur 2014).

Kumlin er "associated researcher" ved Universitetet i Konstanz, Cluster of Excellence The Politics of Inequality

Bakgrunn

Staffan Kumlin var tidligere professor i statsvitenskap ved Göteborgs universitet og forsker I ved Institutt for samfunnsforskning i Oslo. Han har vært "Pro Futura Fellow" ved Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study ved Uppsala Universitet og under lengre perioder vært gjesteforsker ved Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB),  Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, European University Institute i Firenze, samt Universitetet i Konstanz.

Priser

Staffan Kumlin mottok i 2005 som første statsviter et Pro Futura Fellowship fra Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.
