Apply for seed funding for continuing education and professional development for teachers

Funding carried forward and received, available for allocation in 2026, totals NOK 600,000 for continuing education and professional development initiatives for upper secondary school teachers, and NOK 500,000 for initiatives for teachers in kindergartens and primary and lower secondary schools.

Why seed funding?

All projects receiving seed funding must support the Faculty of Social Sciences’ long-term continuing education and professional development provision for teachers. Funding may be used for any initiative that helps strengthen teachers’ subject knowledge, for example:

  • Developing online and other learning resources for teachers
  • Developing continuing education and professional development events, such as courses, seminars, conferences, panel events (such as “Dream Day for Teachers”) and similar activities
  • Developing an evidence base for targeted continuing education and professional development opportunities for teachers, for example by mapping and analysing teachers’ needs and demand for different types of initiatives

What can the funding be used for?

  • Research assistants and student assistants
  • Buyout from regular duties (please note: this must be agreed with department management)
  • Events, conferences, courses and seminars

Applications must include:

  • The amount requested and a simple budget
  • The project’s objectives and planned activities
  • The project’s target group, in particular whether it is aimed at:
    • teachers in upper secondary schools, primary and lower secondary schools, or kindergartens; and/or
    • teachers across Norway, or only teachers in Oslo and the surrounding area
  • An explanation of how the initiative will continue after the project period ends and the seed funding has been used.

The application deadline is 23 October.
