PLATO PhD School 2 - Vienna

PLATO's second PhD school will be staged in Vienna on 12-16 March 2018. Three days will be dedicated to research design, and two days to academic writing.

The PhD school is organised as part of the MSCA-ITN PLATO project (The Post-Crisis Legitimacy of the European Union), which is coordinated by Prof. Chris Lord at ARENA. For the 15 PLATO PhD researchers, participation is mandatory.

PhD course in research design

12-14 March 2018

The main objectives of the PhD course are to understand the organisation and presentation of political science research, the framing of a research question and its relation to the broader literature, the development and review of causal explanations, the construction of valid and reliable measures for the key variables of interest to the project.

Academic Writing Skills

15-16 March 2018

The purpose of this workshop is for PLATO's PhD researchers to learn more about the writing and publication process. It will provide structure, advice and motivation in academic writing.
