Academic interests
Melby is a postdoctoral fellow on the project Egalitarian but not Equal: Sectoral Wage Formation and Gendered Wage Differentials (WAGE). She examines gender and class dimensions of central wage‑setting processes, with a focus on Norway and Sweden.
Her main interests lie within political sociology, gender and feminist theory, with a particular focus on the informal dimensions of practice and meaning-making that take place within and shape political organizations. Melby is engaged with questions about how we can use ethnographic methods to nuance our understanding of inequality in political organizing.
