Elin Haugsgjerd Allern is Head of Department of Political Science.

Allern's research interests include political parties and party systems, interest groups, political advocacy, political representation, public policy-making and multi-level governance. Her research is often situated at the intersection of these different fields and it usually deals with established democracies. She specializes in the use of text data, interviews, and surveys, and applies both qualitative and quantitative methods. Allern usually teaches both broad and specialized courses on politics and political science research methods, at various levels.
