Academic interests

Jamie's doctoral research will explore themes of regional geopolitics, alliance structures, emerging technology, the High North, NATO, and nuclear weapons strategic stability. 

She is also interested in a wide range of academic subjects including:

  • International relations
  • International security and strategy; defense strategy and policy
  • Nuclear weapons arms control and non-proliferation
  • Norwegian and European security policy
  • International relations of East Asia
  • Open source intelligence, satellite imagery analysis, geospatial methods
  • Causes of war and conflict

Background

The majority of Jamie's academic and professional background has focused on nuclear weapons policy and strategy, arms control and nonproliferation, and emerging technologies.

Before starting her PhD, Jamie worked as a Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellow with the International Atomic Energy Agency in the Department of Nuclear Security and Safety, a Graduate Affiliate and Research Assistant with the Oslo Nuclear Project at the University of Oslo, and a Research Assistant at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies in Washington, DC. She has held several other positions at various policy think tanks, including the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, the American Enterprise Institute, and the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation. Awards

  • Jamie's master's thesis was selected by the US Nuclear Energy Agency as "Rising Star" research and she presented her findings at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in September 2023.
