Veronika Lemeire is a postdoctoral researcher for the WAGE project, Egalitarian but not Equal: Sectoral Wage Formation and Gendered Wage Differentials. For this project, she investigates the gendered nature of collective wage-setting processes to inform future reforms aimed at addressing the historical undervaluation of women's work.

Her academic interests include gender equality in collective bargaining, labour market inequalities, care work in welfare states, and European market integration.

Background

Veronika Lemeire holds a PhD in Social Sciences from Hasselt University, Belgium (2024). Her doctoral research investigated the potential for gender equality of Belgian social dialogue institutions and the role of trade unions and employers’ organisations in the gendered transformation of labour market institutions since the post-WWII period. She holds a master's in Gender and Diversity and a master's in Geography (Ghent University, Belgium). She previously worked as a gender policy officer at a Belgian trade union.

Before entering her position at ARENA, she was a researcher and lecturer of the bachelor courses Economy and Society and Sociology of Work and Organisations at the School of Social Sciences, Hasselt University, Belgium.
