Writing workshop with Nils Bubandt

On December 6 the AMBER team, together with the “Forms of Ethnography – Ethnography as Form” research group, organised a writing-focused workshop at SAI.

The workshop, titled "Writing Time, Writing the Planetary" sought to develop a conversation around how to write, ethnographically, about times, temporalities, and cosmo-temporalities that are not just beyond the present, but also beyond the human. These do not only include geological times, but can also include the ancestral past, the imagined future, and other-than-human temporalities.

The workshop opened up with a brief talk by Prof. Nils Bubandt (Aarhus University) on writing cosmo-temporalities in anthropology and on the Anthropocene as event. We then did a few writing exercises, based on short texts that participants pre-circulated, and discussed those in groups. We session ended with some free-writing.
