Abstract

Anthropological fieldwork seems to fulfil the dream of truly getting to know ‘other people’. Yet, it is not as easy as it may have seemed in earlier times. As the entire earthsystem seems to disintegrate, people are increasingly concerned about their future. In High Arctic Greenland, where I have worked over many years, everything seems in flux — and the future disappears before it has even manifested itself. How may we ‘read’ their story as anthropologists?
