For patients

We are seeking informants to help us develop knowledge about yoga as treatment for patients with complex trauma experiences.

Do you have complex trauma experiences, difficulties related to complex trauma experiences, and experience with yoga as a treatment within the healthcare system?

By Complex Trauma Experiences we here mean repeated experiences of violence, abuse or neglect (sexualised, physical or psychological) during childhood, against oneself or against/between close carers.

Participation involves 4 steps:

1) Confirm participation with PhD candidate Kari E. A. Lorentzen, kelorent@uio.no/ mobile 45279957.

2) Provide consent to participate via this link: Consent patients (Unfortunately only in Norwegian)

You can read or listen to the content of the consent in this PDF document before proceeding to the link above to sign: Information and consent patients (PDF) (Unfortunately only in Norwegian)

3) Attend an individual interview (approx. 60-90 minutes) with PhD candidate Kari E. A. Lorentzen.

4) Complete 3 digital questionnaires in connection with the interview (approx. 45 minutes)

Inclusion criteria for you as a patient are that you:

  • have experiences of violence, abuse, or neglect that felt overwhelming and exceeded your sense of coping
  • report current or past difficulties related to complex trauma experiences of violence, abuse or neglect
  • have experience with yoga as treatment. With yoga as treatment we here mean yoga-groups within the first line or specialist healthcare, in public or private healthcare. • have participated in a yoga group 4 times or more, are still actively participating in a yoga group or have participated at least 8 months ago

Exclusion criteria for you as a patient are that you:

  • have other difficulties that make it difficult to attend or share experiences.

Interviews with patients will be conducted in Norwegian or English. Patients with a different first language will be offered an interpreter where possible and necessary to convey their experiences.
