The HOMME kick-off seminar was held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Scene Domus Bibliotheca. The event featured insightful talks by Professor Vegard Skirbekk, the Principal Investigator, and members of the HOMME project on various topics related to men’s health and functioning, prompting engaging and stimulating discussions throughout the day. Around 170 people registered for the event, which was also streamed online to reach a broader audience. The program can be viewed here .
The HOMME project embodies a critical effort to understand men’s family lives, work experiences, health, and cognitive outcomes. By addressing these factors during key life transitions, we aim to uncover actionable findings and strategies that not only improve individual well-being but also contribute to broader societal benefits in the context of evolving gender dynamics and new roles of men.
There are numerous initiatives that are neither science-based nor effective – we need to figure out what really can improve men's lives.
A message from the PI:
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the speakers who have shared their expertise and perspectives, enriching our discussions with their thought-provoking insights. Thank you also to all the participants who attended in person despite the blizzard as well as those who joined online. We appreciate the many good suggestions afterwards – please keep on sending them!
Thank you all once again for being part of this meaningful exchange, and we look forward to continuing these important conversations as HOMME progresses.
Do not hesitate to get in touch for collaborations and visits.
All the best,
Vegard Skirbekk (on behalf of the HOMME team)
