Mental Health, Social Challenges, and Health Behaviors Among Sexual Minority Youth in Norway
By exploring their experiences of mental health, health behaviors, and social relationship factors, this study will provide novel data on sexual minority youth while at the same time allowing for an investigation of how they compare to their heterosexual peers, as well as how this varies based on other sociodemographic factors and across municipalities in Norway.
LGBTQ+ health-seeking: A scoping review of health care needs, experiences and barriers
A scoping review exploring the unmet health care needs (mental health, substance use problems and violence) in the LGBTQ+ population, their health-seeking behaviour, health care experiences and perceived barriers to care. The findings will contribute to the map scientific knowledge to form the basis for interventions and the development of more equal services. Read the report here.
Essentialist beliefs about sexual orientation and gender/sex: A scoping review of definitions and measures
Psychological essentialism has been described as the belief that members of social categories share an invisible essence and that they are viewed as homogeneous, informative, mutually exclusive, and immutable. Yet, findings are sometimes contradictory and measures vary considerably. In this review, we aim to provide a systematic overview over definitions and measures of these constructs.
The project used data from the EU LGBTI survey to investigate levels of discrimination and violence experienced by trans people and cisgender LGB people in Europe. I also explored how these experiences vary across countries, how they are affected by a person’s disability and ethnic minority background, and whether experiences vary between trans women, trans men, and nonbinary people.
