Why join?
Volunteering with the Solidarity Hub offers something that coursework alone rarely provides: the chance to apply your psychological knowledge in contexts where it genuinely matters. Our current and former volunteers have contributed to peer education initiatives, psychosocial support projects for Palestinians and Ukrainians, public outreach events, research, and communications. Many describe the experience as formative, both professionally and personally.
You will work alongside faculty, practitioners, and students from an international network, encountering approaches to trauma, resilience, and care that go well beyond any single textbook or tradition. And you will be part of a community that holds both intellectual rigor and human solidarity as guiding values.
Get trained — and put it to use
We are inviting prospective volunteers to a three-day training on human-rights based psychosocial support for survivors of gender-based violence, using the MHHRI manuals, facilitated by Mental Health and Human Rights Info and Solidarity Hub. The training runs June 10–12, 2026 from 10am to 4pm, and is open to psychology students and others with relevant backgrounds.
This is not only a chance to build concrete skills in an area of urgent global need. It is also a stepping stone into our upcoming activities. Here are some of the directions we are heading in the autumn — and where you could play a role:
Do you speak Spanish? We are developing psychosocial support trainings in Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela. Volunteers who complete the June training and bring Spanish-language skills will be well placed to support this work.
Do you speak Arabic? Our initiatives supporting Syrians and Palestinians in Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Palestine are growing. Arabic-speaking volunteers are especially valuable in these contexts, where language is inseparable from trust.
Are you a gifted networker or organizer? Our longstanding collaboration with the Faculty of Psychology at Kyiv National University involves coordination across borders and time zones. If you thrive on connecting people and keeping things moving, this is where your skills will shine.
Of course, there are many other ways to contribute — in communications, research, event organization, or peer education — and we are always glad to hear what you bring and what you are hoping to learn.
Date: June 10–12, 2026, 10 am to 4 pm
Location: Hybrid: In person in Oslo and online
