Research Development Closed Workshop

This closed workshop brings together researchers from the Solidarity Hub (Department of Psychology, UiO), Mental Health and Human Rights Info (MHHRI), and practitioner expertise from Fekra France to explore structured collaboration. Our aim is to define one collaborative research direction, clarify institutional roles, and agree on next steps in our collaboration.

The meeting is organised within the framework of UiO: Life Science support for international research development.

Contemporary research on trauma increasingly recognizes that exposure to violence does not only affect individuals, but also families, communities, and potentially future generations. At the same time, arts-based psychosocial practices have emerged globally as community-level responses to crisis and displacement. However, many of these practices remain under-theorized and insufficiently evaluated within formal research frameworks.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Animation as a structured group-based psychosocial intervention
  • Mechanisms of change (narrative reconstruction, emotional regulation, collective agency)
  • Intergenerational and social transmission of trauma
  • Methodological design: mixed-methods, comparative models, or pilot evaluation in Norway
