Background
I am a professor of general sociology. My research fields are deviance, marginalization and social control, often based on international migration and domestic mobility. In several research projects, I also study prison as an institution for social control. Sociological theory, especially the art of teaching theory, is another field of interest and research.
I came to Dept. of Sociology and Human geography Summer 2024. Earlier I have worked at Dept. of Sociology and Political Science at NTNU (Assoicate professor 2008, Full professor 2011, and Head of Department 2021). Other employments have been at Ruralis and Sor-Trøndelag College University- My ph.d. dissertation (in sociology, 2006, NTNU discussed rural-urban migration from a bourdieusian class perspective.
