The Department of Political Science provides education of high international quality spanning the entire spectrum of the discipline. We offer a comprehensive bachelor's and master's program in political science, two interdisciplinary bachelor's programs, and a specialized master's program in peace and conflict studies. The MA Programme in Peace and Conflict Studies is taught entirely in English.

The Department of Political Science aims to deliver excellent education at the bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. level, as well as continuing and further education, in various areas of the discipline. Our teaching is grounded in up-to-date knowledge and recent research. Our instructors are themselves active researchers who contribute to the development of the knowledge they impart. We offer courses in both Norwegian and English.
The breadth of our study offerings, combined with a strong emphasis on training in social science methods, provides our students with a solid generalist education that is highly valued in the job market. At the same time, we offer opportunities for specialization based on specific thematic and methodological interests along the way. We also benefit from our central location in the capital when collaborating with various relevant employers for political scientists as part of the study programmes.
