The Missing Music of Climate Change

What role does music play in sustainability transformations? Why are more people not singing, drumming, strumming, tapping, or playing tunes about climate change?

We are pleased to invite you to the second Climate and Society Forum, which will take place on Wednesday 17th of October in Undervisningsrom 1 in Georg Sverdrups hus (the library building).

Climate change is an emotional issue for many of us, and one of the best ways to touch people’s emotions is through music. We have been wondering why there is so little music expressing different emotions about climate change. Inspired by Wodak’s (2018) paper "Shifting Baselines: Conveying Climate Change in Popular Music" in Environmental Communication we invite you to a discussion forum to explore the missing music of climate change. If you have any favorite songs to share, we will collect them and add them to our “Missing Music on Climate Change” Spotify list. We hope to see you on October 17th!

The Climate and Society Forum is a space where people who are interested in climate change can engage with specific themes and exchange thoughts and perspectives on our individual and collective role in transformations to sustainability.
