- The Social Dimensions of Environmental Change
Background
Megan Jeanne Gette, Ph.D. Anthropology, MFA Poetry, is a postdoctoral methodologies fellow for the ERC project Unruly entanglements of sociomaterial change, knowledge, and power in energy frontiers in the Department of Geography and Sociology at the University of Oslo.
Her work explores elemental geographies, wave forms and vibration, and emergent socialities of epistemic uncertainty through artistic research, experimental ethnographic methods and writing. Her book project, thoughtlessness: heat, tremor, breath, examines listening as an unstable sensory register amid environmental monitoring practices in energy and extractive zones.
She organizes the UiO Energy + Environment-funded heat + noise: listening with rare earth element speculation at the Fen Carbonatite Complex in Ulefoss, is part of the Oslo Center for Environmental Humanities (OCEH)-funded Unstable Ecologies: Sensory Storytelling project, and is editor of issue 5 of the series Errant Elements, on the speculative.
She participates in alternative publishing and bookmaking practices within and beyond the institution.
