Workshop for Young Researchers: “Platform Studies: The Emerging Research Field in Norway”

We invite doctoral and postdoctoral researchers from Norwegian Universities and Research Institutes to present their ongoing research and discuss them in a friendly and supportive environment. Given the pandemic and absence of collective activities, we aim to bring visibility to this emerging field of research in Norway, facilitate networking and create opportunities for collaborations.

This workshop aims to bring together young scholars who work on theoretical, empirical, and methodological perspectives of platforms. Possible topics may include (but are not limited to): value capture and value creation in a platform business model, strategic management of platforms and ecosystems, economic and social impact of online platforms, comparative studies of platforms, and the platform economy in Norway. The call is open for researchers from various disciplinary backgrounds such as political science, sociology, innovation, economics, media studies, STS, engineering, and informatics.

The event will take place online, June 21, 2021. The workshop is semi-formal and focuses on reading and commenting on in-progress draft papers. We encourage you to participate with drafts of journal articles, book chapters, conference papers that need improvement. Alternatively, you can choose to present a PowerPoint with ideas outlined. Participants are expected to comment on 1-2 other papers, in addition to receiving feedback on their work.

If you are interested in attending this workshop, we ask you to fill out the registration form by May 30. The full paper/PowerPoint deadline is June 7. To provide focused feedback, we limited the number of participants to 15 people.

The workshop is organized by Alina Kontareva and Jørgen Aarhaug, Doctoral Researchers at TIK, Centre for Technology Innovation and Culture. Please, contact us with any questions.
