Background

Nhat obtained her doctoral degree from the University of Olso in 2020. She has a Master's degree in Science in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from BI Norwegian Business School, 2013. Her academic interests are research topics related to sustainable food production and consumption under the theoretical lens of innovation studies, management studies, and sustainability transitions.

Academic interests

Nhat's dissertation studied incumbent firms' behavior in sustainability transitions, specifically the transition toward sustainable food production through a case study of the Norwegian food processing industry. The study delved into the discourse on resource efficiency and value creation in food by-products and waste valorization. Her study draws on the multi-level perspective in the transition literature, dynamic capabilities and absorptive capacity from management studies, the global value chain perspective, as well as governance theory in political science. It explored and uncovered various underlying dynamics and processes of industrial firms' behaviors and strategies in a transition context. Her Ph.D. study was a part of the SusValueWaste project.

Nhat's current postdoctoral research is associated with the BREAD project that seeks to gather the necessary knowledge about effective and efficient solutions that the Norwegian food sector can implement, adopting a broad governance perspective to the grand societal challenge of food waste. The project looks at responsible innovation on three levels: the level of policies, the level of companies, and finally the business/consumer interface.
