Tvedten is interested in the ways knowledge is used, negotiated and produced in efforts to mitigate climate change and prevent environmental damage. In her ongoing PhD project, Tvedten studies how the Norwegian maritime industry and the transport sector in general work to become more 'green'. In her scientific articles, Tvedten investigates how cost-benefit analysis is used to demonstrate the impacts planned projects may have on climate change and the environment, and she also investigates how practices in the maritime industry construct a specific version of 'green shipping'.
