TIK's PhD candidate at DRUID Academy Conference

TIK's PhD candidate Tuukka Mäkitie has taken part in the DRUID Academy Conference in Bordeaux this week.

The DRUID Conference

The conference gathers doctoral students from all over the world to present papers dealing with the role of innovation in society and its effect on technical, structural and institutional change, and to discuss these topics in depths. Tuukka presented a paper written together with colleagues at TIK.

Paper: Interaction betweeen established and emerging industries

Tuukka's paper was on the topic of industry interaction between established and emerging industries, using Norwegian offshore oil & gas and offshore wind power industries as an example. This corresponds closely with the topic of his PhD Project, which investigates the innovation activities of offshore oil and gas industry in the emergence of niche technologies, such as offshore wind power. The paper received encouraging feedback and useful suggestions from the other participants.
