Cannibal tours
Director: Dennis O’Rourke, 1988.
A quasi-documentary film, which borrows heavily from ethnographic modes of representation. The film is a bitter commentary on the nature of modernity, especially focusing on the tourism industry and the representation of “primitive” people in Melanesia. The film is widely celebrated for its depiction of Western touristic desires and exploitation among a 'tribal' people.
