Sustainability is an important idea and concept in many political documents articulating visions for the future, not least through the compounded concepts “sustainable development” and “sustainable growth”. Other terms like “renewable”, “green”, “ecological”, or “eco-friendly” are often used in similar contexts with a meaning or intent similar to “sustainable”.

The grant from the Research Council will be used for an international, interdisciplinary symposium aiming to explore the different meanings of sustainability with a view to produce knowledge with a relevance that goes beyond the merely academic. The main empirical focus will be on Norwegian salmon aquaculture.

More information about the symposium (dates, programme …) will be posted during the spring.
