Faglige interesser

Tidligere interesser: Persepsjon, seksualvaner.

Sterkt involvert i en seksualvaneundersøkelse. Spørreskjemaundersøkelse av et tilfeldig utvalg av 10.000 nordmenn 18-60 år (svarprosent 63%) for å kartlegge nordmenns seksualvaner. Utført i 1987-1988 i regi av Nasjonalt folkehelseinstitutt. Bakteppet var HIV-epidemien.

En hovedinteresse de siste 25-30 årene har vært intelligens. Sammen med andre forskere har jeg vært involvert i en rekke tvilingstudier av den relative betydingen av arv og miljø for variasjon og samvariasjon i intelligens. I de siste årene har min hovedinteresse vært økningen i gjennomsnittlig IQ som har funnet sted i en rekke land (Flynn-effekten).

Sammen med andre forskere, bl.a.ved Folkehelsa og Forsvaret har vi studert Flynn-effekten i Norge med utgangspunkt i intelligenstestdata innhentet ved sesjon i tidsrommet 1957-2002 (knapt 1 mill personer). Koblinger mot SSB’s familieregister har gjort det mulig å studere betydningen av familieforhold, slik som søskenflokkstørrelse, kan ha hatt for Flynn-effekten.
