Academic interests

My research interests generally focus on the intersection of developmental, health psychology, and family studies. Following the socio-ecological framework, I am keen to investigate how contextual and personal factors embedded in different layers would directly and interactively contribute to understanding mental health and well-being differences across individuals. Over the years, I have been involved in a few research projects, mainly focusing on vulnerable youth development (eg, internal and international migrant youth). A few keywords related to my research interests are:

  • Grit

  • Personality traits

  • Attachment

  • Perceived autonomy support

  • Parenting styles

  • Internalizing and externalizing problem behaviors

  • Well-being

Current project:

I am currently involved in a research project named motherhood and quality of life, collaborating with Dr.Røysamb and Dr. Bang Nes. This research project will use longitudinal data from the Norwegian Mother, Father, and Child Cohort Study to generate vital knowledge about causal factors and processes contributing to maternal quality of life and good mental health.

Topics proposed for dissertation's supervision:

  • Causal factors and processes contributing to mental health and well-being
  • A cross-cultural investigation of adolescents' mental health and well-being
  • Risk and protective factors on migrant youth adaptation into host societies
