Background

Laura Cortés-García is a post-doctoral fellow working at PROMENTA Research Center at the Department of Psychology (University of Oslo).

She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) in 2020.

Her primary research interests focus on identifying prospective pathways and underlying mechanisms involved in the development of mental health problems from a life course perspective.

She received clinical training in child and adolescent’s mental health and eating disorders at the University Hospital of Santiago de Compostela and at the Provincial Psychiatric Hospital of Conxo (Galicia, Spain).

Laura is accredited as General Health Psychologist by the Ministry of Education and Health in Spain since 2016.

Currently, she conducts research on elucidating causal processes that lead to marginalization and mental health problems from the formative years of adolescence to midlife.

From a translational perspective, her primary research goal is to inform the design of well-timed and targeted interventions, so that it can effectively interrupt maladaptive behaviors and processes that ultimately increase the risk of marginalization and exclusion.
