  • Language and communication themes broadly defined - with a main focus in recent years on multilingualism and the learning opportunities of children from language minorities in Norwegian kindergartens and schools

  • Educational Psychology, School Psychology Services and the assessment of children from language minorities

  • Cultural- and Societal Psychology and the development of children within socio-cultural-historical contexts

Supervising

I am supervising thesis dealing with language and communication in general. More specifically I like supervising theses dealing with themes of multilingualism and children’s development within multicultural and multilingual contexts.

  • Received cand. psychol. degree in 1966

  • Dr. philos. degree in 1976

  • From 1968 has been employed at the Department of Psychology, University of Oslo, since 1993 as professorH

  • Has long and broad experience from research, teaching and administration 

  • Also been working within the School Psychology Services.

  • During more recent years has been engaged in the development of a study direction in Cultural- and Societal Psychology within the Masterprogram in Psychology

  • Leader of the thematic group for Cultural- and societal psychology

  • Earlier experience as, for example, Head of Department of Psychology, member of Central Complaint Committee at the University of Oslo and member of the Norwegian Research Council's evaluative committee for societal medicine and health services
