Parliaments, Policy and Crisis

This workshop examines how parliamentarians respond to economic crises. Do policy responses vary across countries? Does the institutional context in which policy is made influence governments’ reaction to economic crises?

These questions and more will be examined by workshop participants. Participants include researchers from both the United States and Europe who will present studies on a range of related topics including: the politics of economic crises, enfranchisement and representation, the distributive consequences of austerity, cabinet survival in times of crisis, banking crises, and public debt.

Schedule (as of 5 August).
