Academic Interests

My main fields include the role of organisational factors in political-administrative life, the European Commission, EU agencies, national executives, and the relationship between the EU level and the national level in this respect.

Courses taught

Public administration and executive politics; national and EU level. Organisation theory.

I have been a Professor of Political Science at the University of Oslo since 1993.

I hold a joint position at the Department of Political Science and at ARENA – Centre for European Studies.

Research group coordinator in the European wide CONNEX Network of Excellence - 'Efficient and Democratic Multilevel Governance in Europe' 2004-2008.

Director of ARENA 2003 - 2007

Head of the Department of Political Science 1990-1992.

Member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters since 2004. Member of the research council of the European University Institute (EUI), Florence, 2010-2014.
