Economic and labour geography
Economic geography has a central position within Human Geographic research at ISS. The main focus is on the spatial dimensions of economic activities, i.e. economic inequalities, relations and locations in geographic space.
Research by Human Geographers at ISS has a special focus on how value chains, business clusters and innovation systems evolve and change. In recent years there has also been paid growing attention to labour geography, which focuses on how the labour market is changing in the face of globalization processes and how this affects workers' strategies to promote their interests. Green innovations and technological system changes have also received increased attention.
