Osloforskning

Osloforskning is a collaboration between the City of Oslo and the University of Oslo (UiO) and is intended to promote research and recruitment to research that derives its theme from Oslo.

The University of Oslo wants to stimulate Oslo's research community and focuses on Master students and their research. For its part, the City of Oslo wants to make use of the university's expertise to ensure its management is forward-looking.

Osloforskning is organised as a programme and is based, led and administered at and by the Department of Sociology and Human Geography.

Master students at the University of Oslo are encouraged to submit project descriptions for consideration for grants from Osloforskning. In the assessment of applications, emphasis is placed on

1. That the project is Oslo-relevant. This means that the topic must be directly related to the Oslo-region and/or particularly relevant to Oslo municipality's activities.

2. The scientific quality of the project outline. In order for the application to be assessed as worthy of support,  issues, analytical framework and methodological choices must be thoroughly linked together.

3. The feasibility of the project. Osloforskning only wishes to support applications which make it clear that the project can be carried out within the given time frame and available resources, and it demonstrate research ethical awareness.

Remember that the application is going to be read and assessed by a board made up of representatives from various disciplines. It is therefore important that the application is understandable and clear for people who are not familiar with the field.
