Biography

Manès Weisskircher is a researcher at the University of Oslo. He holds a PhD from the European University Institute in Florence. His research interests are comparative politics and political sociology, especially the study of democracy, social movements, and political parties.

His research has been published or is forthcoming in Political Studies, European Journal of Political Research, Government & Opposition, The Political Quarterly, Social Movement Studies, Politics and Governance, Sociological Perspectives, Journal of Intercultural Studies, Forschungsjournal Soziale Bewegungen, Participation and Conflict, Ricerche di storia politica, as well as in several edited volumes (Routledge, Palgrave). Moreover, he is currently working on a co-authored book on how social movements make gains and losses (Oxford University Press) and on an edited volume on the German far right (Routledge). Manès has been featured in international media outlets such as BBC, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Der Spiegel, ORF, and the Washington Post.

He has taught at TU Dresden, the University of Vienna, the University of Bonn, the University of Düsseldorf, and the University of Bucharest.
