EU-finansierte prosjekter

ERC StG: Enacting the good economy. Biocapitalization and the little tools of valuation (Little Tools)

ERC StG: The Global and Local Organization of Production (Globalprod)

A defining feature of the global economy is the gradual fragmentation of production across firms and borders, a phenomenon that has been termed outsourcing or global value chains.

State-of-the-art empirical economic analysis on value chains has mostly been limited to the study of aggregate data because there is limited data on actual firm-to-firm linkages in the global economy. Even less is known about which products are typically outsourced, and which workers are affected.

This project is changing that by bringing together four unique firm-to-firm datasets on local and global value chains that will push the research frontier forward in two main directions. First, it will confront theory with data and directly test whether integration facilitates new buyer-supplier relationships and growth. Secondly, it will provide information on the impact of outsourcing on wages of different groups of workers and thus allowing for a rich analysis of labor market effects for different skill groups.

ERC CoG: The Economics and Politics of Conservation

While traditional environmental policies focus on the demand side by regulating emitting firms or consumers, this project aims at exploring how a supply-side policy would work, for instance by an environmental policy regulating the extraction of natural resources. Since traditional climate and environmental policy so far have had limited success, a new approach is crucial. The project will apply game theory and political economy methods to address a number of important questions such as strategic conservation, international agreements, deforestation contracts and political concerns.

ERC CoG: The Missing Link of Episodic Memory Decline in Aging

Which brain mechanisms are responsible for the faith of the memories we make with age, whether they wither or stay, and in what form? Episodic memory function does decline with age. While this decline can have multiple causes, research has focused almost entirely on encoding and retrieval processes, largely ignoring a third critical process– consolidation.

Coordinator European Training Network: The Post-Crisis Legitimacy of the European Union (PLATO)

En rekke kriser har skapt nye legitimitetsutfordringer for EU. Har EUs svar på disse krisene vært legitime? Tjue europeiske partnere tar for seg disse spørsmålene i doktorgradsnettverket PLATO.

MSCA Partner: Anthropology of Human Security in Africa: ANTHUSIA

By combining competencies from Anthropology, Human Security and African Studies, ANTHUSIA aims to foster talent relevant to current challenges and potentials of developing safe societies in Africa. By exploring different areas from a human security perspective, the research will provide insights into problems such as expanding young populations, accelerated urbanization, unequally distributed growth, recurring conflicts, persistent health problems, and refugee insecurity.

Coordinator project: Differentiation, Dominance, Democracy (EU3D)

What are the democratic potentials and the dominance pitfalls of differentiation in today’s EU? EU3D specifies the conditions under which differentiation is politically acceptable, institutionally sustainable, and democratically legitimate; and singles out those forms of differentiation that engender dominance.

Coordinator project: Reconsidering European Contributions to Global Justice (GLOBUS)

GLOBUS critically examines the European Union’s contribution to global justice. Challenges are multifaceted and what is just is contested. Combining normative and empirical research GLOBUS explores underlying political and structural obstacles to justice. Analyses of the EU’s positions and policies are combined with in-depth studies of non-European perspectives on the practices of the EU. Particular attention is paid to the fields of migration, trade and development, cooperation and conflict, as well as climate change.

Coordinator project: Lifebrain: Healthy minds from 0-100 years

The project’s main objective is to identify determinants of brain, cognitive and mental health at different stages of life. By integration, harmonisation and enrichment of major European neuroimaging studies of age differences and changes, we will obtain an unparalleled database of fine-grained brain, cognitive and mental health measures of more than 6.000 individuals. Longitudinal brain imaging, genetic and health data are available for a major part, as well as cognitive/mental health measures for extensively broader cohorts. By linking these data, also to additional databases and biobanks, including birth registries, national and regional archives, and by enriching them with new online data collection and novel measures, we will address risk and protective factors of brain, cognitive and mental health throughout the lifespan.

Partner project H2020: Transmitting Contentious Cultural Heritages with the Arts (TRACES)

TRACES investigates contentious heritage sites (museums, collections, historical buildings etc.) in various European locations in relation to their communities, and the policies of the heritage providers. It specifically investigates and intervenes into these contested heritage sites through ethnographic and artistic means, by creative co-productions which involve heritage providers, communities, and ethnographic and artistic researchers.
